Do You Need An Activity Tracker?

fitbit-steps-quote

I’ll have to admit when I first began to see activity trackers in ads and social media, I was skeptical. I assumed they were glorified pedometers. However, after receiving one as a gift, I began to see the true value of these gadgets. I was surprised at how motivated I became to move more. I began to push myself to consistently reach my daily goal of 10,000 steps. I even found myself walking in circles around the house to “get my last 100 steps in” before bedtime. Fitbit reports that the  10000 Steps recommended a day,

“is a rough equivalent to the Surgeon General’s recommendation to accumulate 30 minutes of activity most days of the week. It should be enough to reduce your risk for disease and help you lead a longer, healthier life. The benefits are many:  lower BMI, reduced waist size, increased energy, and less risk for Type II diabetes and heart disease.”

PC Mag lists these trackers as The Best Fitness Trackers for 2016 reporting they range in price from $50 to $250. However, you may want to note, they are all over the place in regards to price. Therefore, do your research to determine whether you want a basic or more elaborate model prior to purchase.

Healthfitnessrevolution.com reports some of the  Top Benefits of Fitness Trackers

“Fitness trackers are one popular way to keep track of your progress. Depending on the tracker, wearers can track steps, calories, distance travelled, caloric intake, and even heart rate and sleep. Some even offer GPS tracking to map your distance and pace. While fitness trackers may seem like a needless investment for those who already have an athletic incentive, fitness trackers can be the “ghost you” you’ve been looking to compete with all along.”
